  • Thank you to everyone who helped in any way at the Christmas concert. The total raised from donations and ticket sales was £1568.76. This money will go towards the development of the area at the back of the school as we hope to turn it into an adventure trail for the children. We’ve been given a quote of £6000 so all money raised this year will be going towards this project. Thanks again for all your support.
  • Copies of the Christmas concert will be available on DVD for £5. If you would like a copy please return slip and money to school by Tuesday 18th December. Thanks to Aidan McClean who recorded the video for us.

Christmas concert

  • School will close for all children at 2pm on Wednesday 12th December to allow staff to make final preparations for the Christmas concert.
  • Children should be in school by 6:30pm and the concert will begin at 7pm.
  • Thank you for all contributions towards the Christmas Hampers. Any final items for the hamper should be brought to school by Tuesday 11th December
  • Any unsold raffle tickets should be returned to school by Tuesday morning (11th December) so that they can be sold at the concert on the 12th December.
  • The children will remain with their teachers for the duration of the concert.
  • This year the concert will run straight through with no interval. The raffle will be drawn immediately after the concert so all tickets should be purchased before the concert starts.
  • Members of the audience are requested NOT to block the central aisle or fire door.
  • Children should be collected from the school after the concert.

  • As the weather has gotten considerably colder all children must wear a suitable coat outside. Body warmers are not suitable for this time of year.
  • Written homework will cease from Monday 3rd December.
  • Raffle tickets for our Christmas raffle have been sent home with this newsletter (2books per family). Cost £1 per ticket or £5 for book of 6. All unsold raffle tickets should be returned to school by Monday 10th December.
  • As in previous years parents are kindly requested to provide items for the Christmas hampers which will be raffled after the Christmas concert. Items can be brought in to school at any time until Monday 10th December.
  • Miss Bonnar will be absent from school from Friday 30th November as she is undergoing surgery and will return when she has recovered. Miss McGowan will teach the class in her absence.
  • Congratulations to our girls camogie team who won the B section of the Cumann naBunscoil competition for the first time. Well done!
  • Thank you to everyone who supported our Shoebox Appeal. We collected 25 shoeboxes.

  • Mrs Gillan returns to school on Friday 26th October after her maternity leave. Unfortunately, this means we say goodbye to Miss McGowan who has done a fantastic job in her absence.

  • Photograph orders should be returned to school with payment by Mon 1st October
  • Shorts are not suitable for PE as the weather is getting colder and pupils have to go outside at break time in their PE gear. Tracksuit bottoms or leggings only.
  • Children may bring in a small toy from home (no electronics) on a Friday. They may also bring in a small treat to eat with their lunch ie a bar of chocolate or a small packet of crisps or sweets. Multipacks and extra-large bags are not allowed.
  • Reminder: Children should only bring water in to school to drink.
  • Unfortunately, there were insufficient numbers to hold the AGM of the Friends of St Olcan’s on Tuesday evening so the AGM will now be held on Tuesday 2nd October at 7pm in the school. We’d love to see some new members and representatives from each class on our committee. Meetings usually last about 45mins and take place 1-2 times per term. However, if attendance is still poor then the future of the group is in jeopardy.
  • Cash for clobber collection on Wednesday 3rd October. Bags of old/unwanted clothing can be left in school from Friday 28th September. All bags should be in school by Tuesday 2nd October as they will be collected at 7:30am on Wednesday morning
  • Sponsorship forms have been sent out today for our dance-a-thon on Friday 28th September. Each family has been given a sponsor form. Thanks in advance for your support. Money raised will be used to fund new books for the Accelerated Reading Programme.
